MyFootyBoots News

With all of the different footy codes starting their preseason training, now is a great time to review the latest football boots to hit the market! Let's first review the football boots ideal for the AFL player.

What you want:

What you want in an AFL boot is a wide toe base so you can make great contact with the ball. Kangaroo leather is the top-of-the-line material used in the high-end footy boots, but the synthetic also works great, and is often more affordable.

Entry Level Boot -   Adidas Predito TRX FG adidas Predito TRX FG

The adidas Predito is a great looking boot, and perfect for the amateur footballer. Made from synthetic leather, these boots will have you racking up the touches and kicking goals on the footy field in no time.

They come in a big range of colour schemes, and if you wanted to step it up a notch, try the adidas Absolado, the adidas Absolion or the adidas Predator.

Mid-range Boot -   Asics Lethal Stats TRX FG

Many players swear by Asics, thanks to their wider base and comfort factor. Made from kangaroo leather, the Lethal Stats are great for those days when the football oval is firm underfoot, or if you experience calf, hamstring or back tightness. The Asics are also recommended for players with wider feet. Joel Selwood, three-time premiership player is the leading AFL player that is an Asics ambassador.

If you want to take your game to the next level, try a pair of the Asics Lethal Tigreor.

Elite Boot -     Nike Tiempo Legend TRX FG  Nike Timepo Legend IV

Ever since the Nike Tiempo Legend range was introduced, it’s been wildly a popular range with footy players of all levels. Worn by the likes of Gary Ablett, Scott Pendlebury and Lance Franklin, the upper is made from kangaroo leather, which fits like a glove and is more water resistant than other leathers.

If the Nike Tiempo Legend is out of your league, try the Tiempo Flight or the Tiempo Mystic for a similar football boot.

December can’t come around quick enough, as it marks the worldwide release date for the Adidas miCoach F50 football boots.adidas F50 High Energy/Electricity/White miCoach

These footy boots are dubbed the “football boot with a brain”, as you can insert the adidas miCoach SpeedCell in the base of your adidas miCoach F50 football boot to record your movements during a game or at practice.

What better Christmas present than a new pair of football boots?

The on-board memory will store data such as distance covered, your speed at any point during the  session, the number of sprints, timing information, the list goes on.

At the end of your game or session, you then send the data wirelessly to your smart phone or PC/Mac so you can review how you went. It doesn’t just stop there either, as you can jump online at www.miCoach.com, compare your results to other athletes around the world, and also build your own training program to get you to your peak fitness level you desire.

Only top professional soccer, football and rugby players had access to this football boot technology. But now you can get your hands on it and take your game to the next level.

Here are a few images of the new soccer cleats to get excited about. The two colours displayed are  the High Energy/Electricity/White and the Black/Warning/Electricity.

A-League starts!

Posted by The Shadow on October 12, 2011 (0 Comments)

 Kewell. Emerton. We Are Football!

The A-League season kicked off last weekend with one of the most heavily anticipated matches in A-League history, Sydney FC vs Melbourne Victory. Not because of the rivalry between two great cities, but because of the A-League debuts of Soccaroo legends Harry Kewell (Melbourne Victory) and Brett Emerton (Sydney FC).

Just over 40,000 people packed out Etihad Stadium in Melbourne for the stoush that saw no goals scored, still rate as a fantastic game. Kewell looked all class out there on the pitch, and could have had two goals to his name. Emerton had a penalty saved, and will look to improve on his overall performance for the next game.

Both players were seen wearing the Nike Tiempo Legend IV soccer boots, which can be be bought here at MyFootyBoots.com.au. It seems to be a popular boot choice amongst players so far this season.

Now on to the latest football boots to hit the market.

AFL year in review

Posted by The Shadow on October 12, 2011 (0 Comments)

Well we're going to kick off this blog with a bit of a wrap of the AFL season and finish with a summary of the popular boots out there on the field.

Now the AFL season played out with Collingwood being an unstoppable force, and was raging favourites with the bookmakers. A few headlines throughout the year included the St Kilda/Ricky Nixon/Kim Duthie scandal that was an end of season "poke fun at" story for the players (see Jimmy Bartel and Mitch Duncan on Geelong's Mad Monday). Another big one was the tactic of Collingwood sending several players over to Arizona mid-season for high-performance altitude training. It certainly worked for Dane Swan who returned and stormed home to win the Brownlow with a record-breaking 34 votes.

But it seemed like a case of Collingwood running out of legs when it got down to the business end of the season, while the aging veterans down at Geelong started cranking up the intensity. It proved to be the difference in the final quarter of the Grand Final, with Geelong having that bit more energy to close out the game and run out victors for their 3rd flag in 5 years.

Throughout the year we saw the unveiling of the Nike Tiempo Legend IV football boots which were worn by superstars like Buddy Franklin, Scott Pendlebury, Marc Murphy and Nick Riewoldt. Gary Ablett stuck with his Nike Tiempo Legend III's, but suspect he will don the Legend IVs for the preseason.

The Nike Tiempo Legends are the elite Nike boot that are made with kangaroo leather for superior comfort and feel. They say you've never really worn a good pair of boots unless you've tried the kangaroo leather. So definitely keep your eyes out for a bargain, possibly the Nike Legend III which were last season's model at great prices.

Another highlight in boot releases this season were the adidas F50 adiZero range which certainly stood out. Just ask Richmond Tigers player Brett Deledio who was seen wearing the full range of high end adidas footy boots, including the adidas Predator adiPowers.

The adidas F50 range are amazingly light thanks to the use of synthetic leather, which will help with your speed and change of direction. The adiPower Predators on the other hand, are made with calf leather which result in a heavier boot, but great for comfort. All will no doubt feature heavily in AFL player's boot bags next year.
