The best companion on a run, besides a good pair of running shoes, is a great app. Armed with your iPhone you can track your mileage, your speed, your goals and much more. Here are a few of our teams favourite running apps.

RunKeeper – RunKeeper is pretty much the gold standard for running apps - more than 30 million people worldwide are using it to track their runs. This app is great for setting goals and tracking your progress. RunKeeper even allows you to track the mileage on your running shoes so you always know when they need to be replaced.

MapMyRun+ - MapMyRun tracks tons of activities from running to strength training and everything in between. It can also integrate with My Fitness Pal to track nutrition and exercise data and help you on your weight loss journey.

Zombies, Run! – For anyone who is training as preparation for the zombie apocalypse, this is the app for you! This app features a series of missions in which you, as Runner 5, gather supplies and protect your town from the undead. The app tracks your distance and pace and integrates with your own playlists for songs in between your mission transmissions. Definitely an exciting change of pace from the usual run!
